“The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion that stands at the cradle of true art and true science.”
At age five, my first drawing was Disney’s Cinderella. Though I began painting and drawing realistic faces, later in life I discovered the pure pleasure of playing with watercolor inks on mat board. When I paint with this medium, it’s messy, it’s discovery, it’s magic and I am a child at play. I watch the paint merge and mingle while I move the surface and add water….time disappears and mysterious magic begins. After the painting is dry, I slice it up with my bevel edge cutter and reassemble. When I am finished playing and the painting is complete, I recall my fascination as a child with the intricacies of marbles and delicate colors in soap bubbles, and of course, Disney’s animation.
